Monday 26 September 2016

What:  Students will be able to visualize Galileo’s contribution to Astronomy.

How:  I will take the students to the planetarium.  In the planetarium I will show them a PPT on Galileo.

 

Tuesday 27 September 2016

What:  Students will be able to explain how Galileo changed society’s outlook on science and the universe.

How: I will have the students work with a partner to complete a worksheet on Galileo.  They will be able to use their texts/notes/laptops.

 

Wednesday 28 September 2016

What:  Students will be able to explain Kepler’s three laws of planetary motion.

How:  I will take the students to the planetarium.  In the planetarium I will show them a PPT on Kepler’s three laws of planetary motion.

 

Thursday 29 September 2016

What:  Students will be able to solve problems relating to Kepler’s 3 laws of planetary motion.

How:  I will show the students how to solve equations dealing with Kepler’s laws.  They will then practice solving similar problems using the same equations on a worksheet.  They will then view and modify a Java applet to observe how distance, eccentricity and mass alter the orbit of a planet

What:  Students will be able to locate the constellations surrounding the summer triangle.

How:  We will go to the planetarium and locate the constellations around the summer triangle.

 

These are the base plan for the week and may differ from day to day based on the differentiated needs of each class.
