Art To Wear is a collaborative effort between the Family & Consumer Sciences and the Art Department. The project, funded by the McFeely-Rogers Foundation, affords students an opportunity to learn the ancient Japanese technique of Shibori.
Using Shibori techniques, students dye a piece of fabric and then create their own unique piece of clothing. The experience lasts approximately nine weeks and includes a trip to Pittsburgh, where students meet practicing artists in the fiber arts.
Upon completion of the project, the students model their work in a fashion show at the Latrobe Art Center.
